Cars must be fitted with a micro chip to run on Scalextric Digital and can still be used on non digital systems in the normal manner. As digital systems cannot run normal analogue cars so when upgrading all of the power and speed controllers must be changed. Digital accessories can only be used in conjunction with digital cars and power units.
Why use digital? The great advantage is that you can change lanes if there is a crash up ahead, or to get past a slower driver. More people can race, getting accurate lap times that can be blisteringly quick with smooth control.
Hand controllers have an ultra responsive throttle with push button braking and lane changing.
Best results will be achieved with larger circuits incorporating overtaking and pit lanes.
